Wound Care

Christina Sikes, DO

August 1, 2022

Dr. Christina Sikes is board-certified in Family Medicine. She attended medical school at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine-Georgia Campus in Suwanee, Georgia, and her residency training in Family Medicine at Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Georgia.

“My favorite part of being a physician is being able to help people better their lives, says Dr. Sikes. “I love the continuity of care that the field of wound care provides. It’s my job to provide my patients with resources, education, and encouragement. It’s a team effort. Those moments of triumph, when we come together and see that the wound is getting better, are truly rewarding.”

Dr. Sikes grew up in South Georgia, and she enjoys the Dalton area because it reminds her of home. She and her husband enjoy caring for animals on their farm.

To schedule an appointment with Dr. Sikes, call Hamilton Wound and Hyperbaric Services at 706.272.6596.

Emily A. Ray, DO

January 1, 2022

Dr. Emily Ray is an American Board of Wound Management Certified Wound Specialist and is certified in Wound Healing and Wound Care by the Academy of Physicians. She is also board-certified in Emergency Medicine. She attended medical school at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in East Lansing, Michigan. She completed her residency training in Emergency Medicine at McLaren Oakland Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan.

Dr. Ray looks at her patients’ “whole picture, including systemic disease, lifestyle, limitations, and their support system to assure that their wound care and hyperbaric therapy is appropriate and effective.”

She believes that wound care is multidisciplinary. “I always include other services and recommend consultations as appropriate. I believe in communication with family members, physicians, nurses, and care management to create a solid plan of care.”

Dr. Ray chose to become a wound care physician because “ wounds cause serious health problems. Wounds, which may sometimes be unassuming, can be life-changing for patients and cause significant mental and physical debility. I enjoy the continuity, building relationships, and educating patients to help them heal and improve their quality of life.”

Dr. Ray is a wife and a mother. She enjoys hiking, biking, and anything outdoors with her family.
