Dr. Emadian is a board-certified neurosurgeon at Hamilton Physician Group-Neurosurgery and Spine in Dalton, Georgia. He attended graduate and medical school at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville, Florida. He then completed his residency training in neurosurgery at the University of Utah Affiliated Hospitals in Salt Lake City, Utah. For the past 20 years, Dr. Emadian has practiced neurosurgery in Tullahoma, Tennessee.

Dr. Emadian worked with some of the world’s best in genetic research at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute for Human Genetics in Utah and is a fourth-generation mentee of Harvey Cushing, the father of neurosurgery in the U.S.

“I am very humbled by the training I have received. I feel so blessed in that regard. Most importantly, I share my mentors’ philosophy of patient care. Patients come first. I consider it a great honor and privilege to serve my patients. It is my goal to provide them with the same level of care that I would provide to my own family.”

“I always dreamed of having the ability to make a difference in the community that I live in. One of the dreams I’ve had is to put together a comprehensive neurosciences program where neurosurgery, neurology, rehabilitation, and pain management work together. All of the pieces of the puzzle are here at Hamilton Health Care System.”

In his spare time, Dr. Emadian pursues his interests in painting, photography, endurance running and cycling, gardening, cooking, and woodworking. “Most of all, I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family.”

Hector M. Dourron, MD, FACS is a board certified vascular surgeon at Hamilton Vascular Center in Dalton and Chatsworth, GA (Hamilton Physician Group – Murray Campus). Hamilton Vascular Center develops treatment plans for those with vascular disease. Treatments include lifestyle changes, medication, and if needed, surgical procedures to repair an aneurysm or restore blood flow.

Richard F. Fromm, MD, FACS

Richard Fromm, MD, FACS, is a board-certified general surgeon and breast specialist with Hamilton Physician Group-General Surgery in Dalton, GA. He attended medical school at the Medical College of Georgia. He completed his general surgery residency at East Tennessee State University James H. Quillen College of Medicine.

Dr. Fromm serves as Chairman of the Medical Staff at Hamilton Ambulatory Surgery Center. He has previously served as Chief of Surgery and the Director of the Trauma Department at Hamilton Medical Center.

Dr. Fromm focuses on the evaluation and treatment of breast problems, including minimally invasive biopsy, breast surgery, and follow-up care.

Eric R. Manahan, MD, MBA, FACS

Eric Manahan, MD, MBA, FACS, is a board-certified general surgeon and is the breast physician leader with Hamilton Physician Group-General Surgery. He attended medical school at the James H. Quillen College of Medicine at East Tennessee State University where he also completed his general surgery residency. He subsequently completed an MBA at Auburn University.

In addition to his position on the board of directors for the American Society of Breast Surgeons, Dr. Manahan has been very active in Breast Fellow education and has served on the Education Committee of the ASBrS since 2011. He currently co-chairs the Fellows Education Committee and is a member of the Corporate Relations Committee. He also serves as the ASBrS representative to the Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO) Training Committee. He has served as faculty for the SSO Fellows Institute since 2012. He most recently chaired a panel of experts in genetics to release the latest consensus statement on breast cancer genetic testing adopted by the American Society of Breast Surgeons and has been very involved with the salary surveys for the ASBrS.

Dr. Manahan has a special interest in percutaneous breast procedures and is involved with several national clinical trials relating to breast cancer including cryoablation. He has previously served as the chairman of the Department of Surgery at Hamilton Medical Center and currently serves as chair of the Cancer Committee at Hamilton and serves on the Trauma Committee.

Steven W Paynter, MD, FACS

Steven W Paynter, MD, FACS is a board-certified surgeon at Hamilton Physician Group – Surgery in Dalton, GA. We provide a comprehensive program to ensure successful outcomes. We have two convenient locations to serve you in Dalton and Ringgold, GA. Hamilton Physician Group is a group of physician practices that have aligned with Hamilton Health Care System to form a partnership to help further enhance the overall patient experience.

Dr. Paynter grew up in Ohio, and moved to North Georgia while in high school. He graduated from Dalton College and then the University of Georgia, both with honors. He then received his medical degree in 1983 from the Medical College of Georgia, prior to completing his General Surgery residency at East Tennessee State University in 1988. Dr. Paynter is married, with three children, and is an active member of First Baptist Church. He has led a number of surgical mission teams to Central and South America.

He currently serves as a trustee of Hamilton Medical Center Board, President of the Whitfield/Murray Medical Society, Chairman of the Trauma Committee and co-chairman of the Ethics Committee. He is a past president of the Hamilton Medical Center Medical Staff, and previous Chairman of the Department of Surgery and the Credentials Committee. He has been a trustee of Hamilton Health Care System, Cancer Liaison to the American College of Surgeons, and Advanced Trauma Life Support Instructor.

Dr. Paynter is Board Certified, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and has active memberships in numerous organizations, including the AMA, American Society of General Surgeons, Southern Medical Society, Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, and American Society of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery. He maintains current licenses in both Georgia and Tennessee. Dr. Paynter was selected as one of America’s Top Surgeons numerous times since 2002, by the independent Consumers Research Council of America.

Dr. Paynter performs a wide variety of surgical procedures, and specializes in advanced laparoscopic procedures, particularly hernia, hiatal hernia, gallbladder, and colon surgeries. He was the first in the entire tri-state area to perform robotic general surgery procedures with the daVinci robot, and is credentialed to proctor other surgeons on robot surgeries.

Rodovaldo Rodriguez Jr., MD

Rod Rodriguez, MD, FACS, is a board-certified general surgeon and breast specialist with Hamilton Physician Group-General Surgery. He attended medical school at the Morehouse School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago. He trained under nationally recognized surgeons who were among the first in the U.S. to do stereotactic and ultrasound-guided breast biopsies.

 

Dr. Rodriguez was an early adopter of minimally invasive biopsy techniques, including office-based ultrasound-guided core biopsies. He also participated in the first image-guided breast biopsy course by the American College of Surgeons. He was among the first to do sentinel lymph node biopsies after receiving training at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida.

Hamilton Medical Center provides a broad range of surgical care for both elective and medically necessary surgeries—including general, orthopedic, neurological, and gynecological surgery—with the most advanced technology, including minimally invasive robotic surgery.

Outpatient Surgery

Hamilton Associates

Patients having minor surgery with minimum risk may often do so without spending a night in the hospital. For more information on Hamilton Medical Center’s outpatient surgery, call 706.272.6393

Inpatient Surgery

If your surgeon discusses the need for your procedure to require hospital admission, you will be admitted to the post-surgical hospital unit with highly trained and certified nurses dedicated to your recovery, or the hospital’s Surgical Intensive Care Unit located just steps from the Operating Room should you need more concentrated care.

Hours of Service

Scheduled surgeries are performed at Hamilton Medical Center, Monday through Friday from 7:30am – 4:00pm. Our surgical staff is on-call 24 hours every day for emergency surgeries.

Pre-operative Care is open Monday through Friday at 5:30am. Should you need assistance prior to your scheduled surgery call 706.272.6175.

Pre-admission Testing is open Monday through Thursday 8:00am – 4:00pm and Fridays from 8:00am – 12:00pm , call 706.272.6393 for any questions.
