Ashim Mehta, MD, psychiatrist, recently joined Hamilton Physician Group – Psychiatry. He joins John Beckner, MD, and Vicki DeWeese, FNP, at the practice.

Mehta moved to Dalton from Sioux Falls, S.D., where he completed his residency through the University of South Dakota, USD Sanford School of Medicine. He completed medical school at University of St. Eustatius School of Medicine.

 

“Nearly one in five people in United States suffers from mental illness in a given year,” Mehta said. “It’s very rewarding to be in this specialty since all patients bring about a uniqueness to them and every case and patient interaction is different.  We deal with some of the most sick patients in this specialty and it’s always rewarding to see them functional again.”

 

Mehta and his wife recently had a little girl. “We have been blessed with a beautiful daughter whom we cherish very much and spend most of our time with,” he said. “We love to spend our time outdoors.” He enjoys hiking and biking, as well as sports such as tennis, cricket, table tennis and soccer.
