Who is eligible for the Nurse Residency Program?
This is one of the features that make Hamilton’s Nurse Residency Different. Any new graduate registered nurse, with less than six months of experience, is placed in the Nurse Residency Program. There is no application process OR any contract to sign.
How long is the Nurse Residency Program?
The Nurse Residency Program meets once a month for ten months.
If I have experience as a nurse, will I need to participate in the Nurse Residency Program?
Only new nurses with less than 6 months of experience participate in the Nurse Residency Program.
What if I haven’t taken the NCLEX or do not yet have my results? Can I still be hired into the Nurse Residency Program?
Residents that can provide official documentation of successful NCLEX results and pending application for GA RN licensure (or a state that is part of the enhanced nurse licensure compact) will be considered eligible to start program.
What if I have taken NCLEX but did not pass?
RN licensure is required before the start of the program.
When should I start the application process at Hamilton Medical Center?
You can apply at any time. Once you have graduate from your nursing program, you will be hired in as a NGRN-NT. If you are graduating in December it is recommended that you start applying in September. If you are graduating in May it is recommended to start applying in March.
