DALTON, Ga.– Hamilton Medical Center (HMC) recently received an
Excellence Award from VHA Inc., the national healthcare network. The
award recognizes HMC for documenting one of the highest levels of
improvement in cost performance for physician preference items within
the VHA alliance. The award was presented in May, during VHA’s national
Navigating to Excellence Forum.
To determine the winners of their Excellence Award, VHA evaluated the Physician Preference Item Price Index of its member hospitals using their VHA PriceLYNX analytic solution. Hospitals use the analytical tool to gain insight into where they can achieve greater savings for these specialty items. Of the VHA member hospitals reviewed for the award, HMC was one of only four hospitals recognized for their improvement in 2014.
“Hospitals today are focused on making every aspect of their operations as cost effective as possible while also delivering superior clinical outcomes and patient experiences,” said Byron Jobe, VHA executive vice president, service and delivery. “Hamilton Medical Center is committed to continuous cost improvement in their service lines and quality outcomes for their patients and we are pleased to recognize their achievements over the course of 2014.”
In April, VHA Inc., the national health care network of not-for-profit hospitals, and UHC, the alliance of the nation’s leading academic medical centers, combined into a single organization. The combined organization is the largest member-owned health care company in the country and is dedicated to leading health care innovation, creating knowledge and fostering collaboration to help our members thrive. The company serves more than 5,200 health system members and affiliates as well as 118,000 non-acute health care customers.
