Brighten lives and serve your community. Volunteering makes it possible.
Why volunteer? For many, it's the chance to do something meaningful. For some, it's a way to feel appreciated. Whatever the reasons, Hamilton Medical Center volunteers become a vital part of our patient care team and receive a deep, personal satisfaction from helping those in need.
As a volunteer, you can choose a position that's right for you. Your help has a far-reaching, positive impact on everyone who enters our doors.
Our volunteer opportunities include:
Who can volunteer?
Volunteering is not just for retirees. In fact, our volunteers are men and women of all ages - people in their 20s, 30s, and beyond, both working and retired. We even have Teen Volunteer programs available for younger people 15 years old and up. If you're interested in helping others and can set aside a few hours each week, volunteering is for you.
Adult Program
Our Adult Program is designed for college students, working adults, retirees, just about anyone interested in lending a hand to our staff and patients. Whether it's greeting visitors, delivering flowers, assisting with dismissals or any number of other activities, you can provide a valuable and appreciated service.
Teen Volunteers Program
If you would like to fill those extra hours after school or in the summer, our Teen Volunteer program is the answer. You must be at least 15 years and maintain a minimum of a "B" average in school. The program runs year round, and students must meet requirements to be accepted.
Red Cross Volunteers
Since 1955, Red Cross volunteers have served Hamilton Medical Center in many roles. And their scope of service continues to grow as the need for qualified volunteers increases.
Volunteer benefits
As a hospital volunteer, you provide a service appreciated by both patients and staff. And Hamilton Medical Center offers you a few perks as a "thank you." Among the benefits:
How much time can you commit?
For Red Cross volunteers, three hours of service per week is the minimum amount of time requested, with a total of 125 hours per year. Attendance at periodic training and inservice meetings is also required. Requirements vary for adult, and teen programs.
Out-of-pocket expenses
Your only out-of-pocket expense will be for uniforms and shoes, which you are required to purchase. But fortunately, expenses related to volunteer service are tax deductible.
