    You may be a candidate for weight loss surgery.

    Listed below are the clinical guidelines for weight loss surgery:

    • Meet the National Institute of Health (NIH) criteria:
      - about 100 lbs. over your ideal body weight, or
      - have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of over 40, or
      - have a BMI of over 35 and are experiencing severe negative health effects, such as high blood pressure, obstructive sleep apnea or diabetes, related to being severely overweight
    • Documented unsuccessful attempts to lose & maintain required weight loss
    • Absence of medical conditions that could cause obesity (rare)
    • Absence of drug and alcohol problem
    • No uncontrolled psychological conditions
    • Consensus after bariatric team evaluation: psychologist, physician, dietitian
    • Dedicated to lifestyle change and follow-up
