LOCAL HOSPITALS EXPAND PARTICIPATION FOR STATE BENEFICIARIES
Dalton, GA – Hamilton Medical Center, Hamilton Ambulatory Surgery Center and Murray Medical Center have reached agreement to participate in United Healthcare’s HMO option under the State Health Benefit Plan effective April 1, 2008.
The agreement will allow State beneficiaries who have selected either Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia’s BlueChoice HMO option, or United Healthcare’s HMO or PPO option access to local hospital services.
“The hospitals’ plan participation has been expanded to offer State workers, retirees and their dependents more plan options,” stated Hamilton Health Care System President and CEO, John Bowling. “We are pleased that we were able to reach this agreement prior to the State’s next open enrollment period.”
Hospital officials said that the BlueChoice HMO and United HMO and PPO options offer a wide network of providers throughout the region and state, in addition to Hamilton affiliates. They reported that they are unaware of the status of discussions between United Healthcare and local physician practices.
“Hamilton facilities and physician practices are separate entities. As always, we encourage State beneficiaries to check with their personal physicians to learn in which plans they participate,” said Bowling.
