MURRAY MEDICAL CENTER CELEBRATES EXPANSION

Chatsworth, GA – On Sunday, November 18th, community leaders, physicians, hospital staff and others attended an open house to celebrate the newly expanded Murray Medical Center.

The hospital’s expanded and redesigned emergency department (ED) now operates with facility and technology enhancements in a dedicated 12,700 sq. ft. area. The ED has grown from four rooms housing six gurneys to sixteen private patient rooms with a centralized nursing station.

Senator Don Thomas, MD, Georgia District 54 was the event’s keynote speaker. “Today is a special occasion for the citizens of Murray County. It is a tribute to the outstanding leadership and cooperation between the Murray County Hospital Authority, Murray County Government, Murray Medical Center Board of Trustees, Hamilton Health Care System Trustees and the Medical Staff.”

According to hospital officials, the Murray Medical ED serves between 14,000-17,000 patients each year. Most are Murray County residents.

“Our mission continues to be to meet the expanding needs of the communities we serve through facility enhancements and new technologies,” said Jim Hazel, Murray Medical Center Administrator. “This celebration is a positive step toward the ongoing growth of Murray Medical Center’s diagnostic and treatment capabilities.”

According to Hazel, additional hospital service expansions include new CT and MRI Services and a new Telemedicine Program. Murray Medical continues to maintain nationally competitive patient satisfaction levels.

“We are committed to providing safe, high quality medical care in an environment that promotes healing and trust,” said Hazel. “We hope that those we have the privilege to serve sense this commitment and are proud of what their home hospital has accomplished.”

Lamar Lyle, Chairman of the Hamilton Health Care System Board of Trustees, Richard Bagley, Chairman of the Murray County Hospital Authority, Robert Cook, MD, Vice Chairman of the Murray Medical Center, Inc. Board of Trustees and Alan Stout, MD, Murray Medical Center Emergency Department Medical Director and Chief of Staff. # # #
