Congratulations It's A....Pediatric & Maternal Services Program Planning for the arrival of a new baby can be very exciting. From decorating the nursery to buying little pink or blue accessories, preparing for the birth of a little one is an anxious time. With the excitement and expectation come periodic trips to the doctor. Many times, expectant mothers and infants require additional health care services to reduce the burden of extended hospital stays or costly medical bills associated with pregnancy and birth. In response to this growing need, Hamilton Home Health Care has begun a new program to help provide a comprehensive alternative for expectant and new mothers and infants who are in need of medical services that can be provided in the home. Hamilton Home Health’s Pediatric and Maternal Services Program offers skilled nursing services, occupational, physical and speech therapy services and assistance with daily living activities in a home care environment. “We are very pleased to be offering this service for area residents,” said Judy Hannah, RN, director of Hamilton Home Health. “Maintaining the health of expectant and new mothers, as well as infants after their arrival is a very important task. We feel that providing this service in the home offers convenience and the comforts of home for our patients who are adjusting to a new way of life.” Services available through the Pediatric and Maternal Services Program include maternal in-home assessments such as fetal/uterine activity monitoring, diabetes management and pregnancy induced hypertension management; breast feeding instruction and prenatal teaching; newborn in-home assessments, newborn health education, administration of medications and many other specialty services. The Home Health Care Pediatric and Maternal Services Program is managed by Dixie Edwards, RN, WHNP. She has prior experience in a variety of health care settings, including women’s health and pediatrics. With her expertise and the support of an experienced and competent Home Health staff, the health care needs of new families are being met in the home. “The Pediatric and Maternal Services Program provides a network of support services for expectant and new mothers,” said Edwards. “Our one-to-one interaction in a home environment is very beneficial to the health and wellbeing of our patients. Not only does the Home Health program provide medical care and education, we also provide encouragement and backing to help overcome health related problems that may come up during a pregnancy or after delivery.” If you would like more information on the Maternal and Pediatric Home Health Service, please call Hamilton Home Health at 706 226-2848.
