Mashburn Digital Cardiac Catheterization Lab

The new state-of-the-art Mashburn Cardiac Catheterization Lab includes digital imaging, capable of offering unprecedented views of the heart and surrounding vessels. The lab is named in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Mashburn whose gifts through the Whitfield Healthcare Foundation continue to support advancements to the lab.

The Axiom Artis dFC, which replaced HMC's previous cath lab equipment, is an all digital cardiovascular imaging system that automatically sets the optimal exposure values for image quality, limiting the dose of radiation a patient would receive.

"This new imaging technology allows physicians to see internal body structures and arterial blockages with more clarity than ever before," reported Dr. Bates Bailey, Cardiologist. Cardiac catheterization has changed the landscape of heart treatment. With advances like medicated stents that prevent the formation of scar tissue and refined catheters that help treat complex blockages, the need for bypass surgery is being drastically reduced.

The new lab has been established as part of Hamilton's continuing commitment to bring advanced cardiac care to the region and provide specialty health care services throughout northwest Georgia.
