Provided in conjunction with the Northwest Georgia Breast Cancer Support Group, the event at Trevitt Hall included a vendor showcase, dinner, presentation by Eric Manahan, MD, and door prizes. Manahan’s presentation focused on news and trends in breast cancer diagnosis and treatment.
“Women want and need information to help make accurate decisions regarding their health,” said Shana Whiteford, director of Hamilton Regional Cancer Institute. “The dinner and lecture was the perfect venue for education, fellowship and support. Learning of advances in breast cancer treatment was engaging and empowering.”
The Northwest Georgia Breast Cancer Support Group meets the first Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the Rock Bridge Children’s Ministry building on the corner of Pentz and Gordon streets (upstairs). “Many breast cancer survivors commented the atmosphere felt reassuring and encouraging,” Whiteford said. “I felt very honored to be part of such a wonderful experience.”
