The Diabetes Treatment Center at Hamilton Medical Center is a comprehensive program designed to help you maintain the delicate balance to control your diabetes with the proper nutrition, medication, exercise and control of stress.

Since 1995, the American Diabetes Association has recognized our diabetes program for quality patient education in accordance with National Standards for Diabetes Patient Education Programs.

We offer a complete program of treatment and consultation services by Certified Diabetes Educators who can help you control your diabetes, rather than it controlling you. Our educators work with your physician to develop a treatment plan that can improve your life today and reduce the risk of complications later.

    The staff at the Diabetes Treatment Center is dedicated to providing the most comprehensive educational program available. Classes are held every week at the Medical Arts of Dalton Building on 1109 Burleyson Road, Suite 203. Family members are encouraged to take part in each of the programs to assist you in keeping your life in balance. Your physician must refer you to us.

    Outpatient Education Program:

    The Outpatient Program is designed to give you the knowledge you need to live a healthier life……education is the key. The more you know about diabetes, and its treatment methods, the better equipped you are to manage your diabetes.

    Education classes are held weekly. Patients are encouraged to invite a guest at no additional cost. During your comprehensive education session we will show you how to:

  • Monitor blood glucose
  • Manage oral diabetes medication
  • Inject insulin
  • Count carbohydrates
  • Design a meal plan that fits your lifestyle
  • Develop a realistic exercise program
  • Manage stress
  • Deal with diabetes-related lifestyle issues


    Support groups include an Insulin Pump Support Group and Type 2 Diabetes Support Group that meet quarterly. Diabetes support groups include guest speaker, educational session and support talks about dealing with diabetes.
