DALTON, Ga. – Hamilton Diagnostics Center (HDC) recently held its fifth annual “Pampered in Pink” event in honor of HDC patients who have been diagnosed with breast cancer within the past year through HDC.
Local physicians Steven Paynter, MD; William P. McKay, MD; and E. C. Strickland, MD; greeted the attendees at the event to show support and encouragement to the survivors.
“We were there to honor breast cancer patients and to recognize the courage that they have shown, and will continue to show throughout their treatment,” said Strickland.
The event included brunch, served by members of the HDC Mammography Department; special entertainment by Sarah Stokes, Meghan Jennings and Leah Stokes; and a fashion show, featuring The Dress Barn, Milynn’s Fashions, CATO and Sassi & Co. Boutique. Models for the show shared the common thread of being breast cancer survivors.
“The idea of using survivors as models is to encourage the women that they can move forward from this devastating life event and once again be vibrant, productive women,” said Annette Daniel, event coordinator.
Survivor models for the event were Michelle Frix Knight, Cindy Breeden, Brenda Daniel Teasley, Debbie Callahan Williams, Vicky Patterson, Lynn Carpenter, Debra Haney, Kay Brackett and Ronda Coker. Julie Meadows Smith modeled in memory of her sister, Sherri (see photo below).
Other program highlights included speakers Anita Stewart, Susan G. Komen-Chattanooga director, and Christine L. Delaney, regional medical specialist with Myriad Genetic Laboratories.
Each attendee received a door prize provided by a local business and given in honor of a family member or friend.
