Begun by Hamilton Medical Center (HMC) in February 2006, Dare to
C.A.R.E. is a comprehensive cardiovascular disease program focusing on
early detection and education. It
is offered quarterly and is free to men and women over the age of 60 and for those over 50 with vascular risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, obesity, smoking or family history of vascular disease.
Created in Annapolis, Maryland, the program was championed locally by
vascular surgeon Ian
Hamilton, MD, who serves as Medical Director.
The Dare to C.A.R.E. program begins with an evening of lectures by a
team of HMC physicians.
On subsequent evenings attendees receive a series of screenings for:
Carotid artery disease,
• Abdominal aortic aneurysms,
• Renal artery stenosis and
• Extremity artery disease.
